The 4.8 rating and the reviews above are example data. A published widget shows the real rating and reviews of the business you connect.

Use the corner without taking over the page

A badge suits pages where a full row of reviews would interrupt the main task. A local business home page, a long service page, or a contact page can keep its content in focus while offering reviews in a corner. The compact trigger shows the connected business rating and can show stars and a review count. A visitor selects it to open the review panel. They close it with the × button or by selecting the badge again. The panel lists reviews in one column and is about 360 pixels wide at most.

This is a live widget layout, not a flat badge image. The review panel uses the same connected reviews and selection settings as other layouts. If you only need artwork for a flyer or a mockup, use the Google reviews badge generator instead. On a page where readers are actively comparing many comments, a grid or list makes the evidence easier to see without an extra click.

Place it where it does not cover controls

Choose top-left, top-right, bottom-left, or bottom-right in the builder. A new badge starts in the bottom-right corner. The Z-Index box (stacking order, which decides what sits on top) starts at 9999. Lower it if the badge covers your site’s menu, or raise it if a chat tool hides the badge. You can paste the script tag anywhere in the page; the badge moves itself to the chosen corner. Use the iframe embed only if you must, because inside a frame the badge cannot float over the page. Test the chosen corner with your cookie notice, booking button, and mobile menu visible. A badge that blocks the site’s main button will be frustrating even if its reviews are helpful.

You can adjust card color, typography, star color, shadows, corner shape, and the review count display. The review panel can use a minimum star setting, a review limit, sorting, and a named collection. You can hide empty reviews or single reviews. You can also choose whether to show photos, dates, review text, and Google source details. The rating on the trigger is the connected business’s overall listing rating, so it should not be described as the score for a filtered collection.

Phone behavior and loading

The badge stays within the viewport on small screens, and its panel has a height limit so it can scroll if needed. Check the phone preview and a real device after publishing. A bottom-corner badge may compete with a mobile sticky call button; move one of them if they overlap. The panel opens only when the visitor selects the badge, so it is a quieter choice than an automatic pop-up.

The widget is delivered by a script tag. If you add it to a site-wide footer, the badge appears on every page. To limit it, list paths in the “Show on these page paths” box in the placement settings, one per line. A trailing * covers every page under a path, such as /services/*. Limit the number of reviews and avoid adding both a badge and a second large widget to every page without a reason. Reviewer photos can use lazy loading. If a visitor needs only a quick signal, the compact trigger keeps the page visually light. It still needs the embed script to show its reviews.

Add a badge in three steps

  1. Add your business through its Google Maps link and start a widget.
  2. Choose Badge, pick a corner, set review display options, and inspect the preview at phone width.
  3. Copy the script tag from the dashboard into your website. Publish, then check the badge beside your menus and sticky buttons.

On the Free plan, the review panel shows a small “Verified by Softscotch” branding link. Removing it needs the paid Reviews plan. The platform guides below show where to paste the embed code.

Example: a bistro menu page

A restaurant might put a badge in the bottom-right corner of its menu page. That can work until the same corner also holds a table-booking button or chat bubble. Move the badge to another corner, or choose an inline layout if all four corners are busy. The builder preview shows the badge itself; the published page shows whether it overlaps your actual navigation, consent banner, or contact controls.

Open and close the panel on desktop and phone. If visitors must scroll through many cards inside it, lower the review limit and put the full set on a reviews page.
