Review Request Template Generator

Write a clear, optional invitation for honest Google feedback. Create SMS, email, WhatsApp, in-person, or printed-card wording without an account.

Updated October 2026

Free. No account or AI request needed. Your entries stay in this browser.

Use your business's review link, not a website homepage. SMS length varies with your name and link; your provider may split longer messages. Contact people only through an appropriate, permitted channel.

How to ask for a Google review

A useful request tells people who is asking, what feedback is welcome, and where they can leave it. Add your public business name and a direct review link, then choose a channel you already use with customers. The generator produces three alternatives so you can pick a message that fits the conversation. You do not need to send every version or follow up with all three.

The templates invite honest feedback without suggesting a rating or telling people what to write. Check your business name, read the message aloud, and open the link before sending. If you need the right URL, follow the review link instructions. A direct review link is more useful than a homepage that leaves the recipient searching for your profile.

Keep requests within Google's rules

Google prohibits rewards for reviews and selectively asking for positive reviews. It also says businesses should not pressure people to leave reviews while on the premises, or have staff ask for reviews with specific content. Do not offer money, discounts, gifts, free services, or prize entries. Do not first ask whether someone was happy and send only the happy people to Google. Keep public review invitations separate from a private support process. These requirements are described in Google's review content policy.

Use the same neutral request process for eligible customers. Avoid suggested star ratings, prepared praise for people to paste, or pressure to write immediately in front of staff. A message such as “Please leave five stars to support us” changes the request from an invitation into an attempt to shape the answer. Let people choose whether to take part, and let them describe their experience in their own words.

Choose a channel that fits the relationship

SMS works best when the message is brief and the sender is immediately clear. A long business name or link can make the message span several parts; check the character count beside each template and your provider's sending rules. WhatsApp requests should also feel like a short, expected message. Only use a channel the customer has agreed to. Do not collect phone numbers just to send review requests people did not expect.

Email gives you room for a subject line, a short introduction, and a clear link. Keep it focused on feedback rather than mixing it with a promotion. The email templates include a subject you can paste separately into your email app. Replace any wording that does not sound like your business, but keep the invitation optional. A long explanation of why reviews matter to you can distract from the simple action.

For an in-person request, offer the link or card so the person can decide later. Do not stand over them while they write. Printed cards work as a quiet reminder people can take away. If the raw URL is hard to type, follow the review card and QR code guide. Check any printed code with a phone before ordering a large batch.

Send the request when it makes sense

There is no universal best hour for every business. Choose a point when the customer has had a real opportunity to experience what you provide. A restaurant might offer a take-home card after a meal. A home service business might include a neutral invitation in its normal completion message. A shop might place the link in an existing follow-up email rather than interrupting checkout with a demand for an immediate rating.

Apply your chosen timing consistently rather than selecting people who seem likely to praise you. Avoid repeated reminders, late-night messages, or requests after someone has asked not to be contacted. If a person raises a concern, help them whether or not they post a review. Never tie resolving a complaint to deleting, changing, or posting a review.

Adapt the wording without exposing private details

The industry choice adjusts the context: dining experience for a restaurant, shopping experience for a retailer, or general feedback for healthcare and legal services. Treat this as a wording aid. Do not add treatment names, diagnoses, case details, appointment histories, or other sensitive information to a public review request. Be careful with subject lines and notification previews, which may be visible to someone other than the recipient.

A neutral example is: “Would you share an honest Google review of your experience with our business? Here is our review link. Sharing a review is entirely optional.” This is sample wording, not a message from a real customer. For a medical practice or law firm, use a more general invitation. Ask the right person to check the wording and the sending process first. If you still need your link, the Google review link generator makes one.

Check the whole journey before sending

Paste the chosen template into your messaging app and check that line breaks, the subject, and the full link survived. Test it on your phone. Confirm that the business location is correct, especially if you operate several locations. The generator creates text; it does not check ownership of a Google profile, send messages, manage permissions, or confirm that the linked destination works.

Once feedback arrives, keep replies thoughtful and factual. The AI review response generator can help with a first draft. To display real Google reviews on your website, VerifiedWidget lets you connect a business, choose a layout, and copy an embed code. Showing existing reviews and requesting future reviews are separate jobs; neither should depend on a customer promising a positive rating.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to create templates?

No. The generator runs in your browser and does not send the business name or review link to an AI service. Choose a channel, enter your details, and copy the text. It does not send messages or store a contact list.

Can I offer a discount for an honest review?

No. Google's rules prohibit incentives in exchange for reviews, even if you say the review can be honest or negative. Keep discounts, gifts, prize entries, and other rewards out of the review request.

Should I ask only customers who gave positive private feedback?

No. Filtering people by satisfaction before sending the public review link is review gating. Use a consistent invitation process for eligible customers, regardless of whether you expect positive or negative feedback.

Where do I find my Google review link?

Use the Google review link generator linked on this page, or get your review link from your Google Business Profile. Open it yourself before sending a message and confirm it leads to the correct business location.

Can healthcare and legal businesses use these templates?

The healthcare and legal options use more general wording and include a reminder to avoid private details. They do not determine whether sending a message is appropriate. Follow your organization's privacy and communication process and avoid including patient or case information.
