Updated October 2026
What the Free plan includes
The Free plan is a real, working widget, not a time-limited trial. You can keep it as long as it fits your needs. These are the limits as they stand today:
- 1 widget for 1 business.
- 10,000 views per month. A view is counted when the widget loads on a page.
- Up to 20 reviews, refreshed about once a month. New reviews are not added between refreshes.
- VerifiedWidget branding is shown on the widget.
- All layouts and themes: grid, masonry, carousel, slider, badge, list, photo story, video spotlight, service proof, review pop-up, and editorial wall.
- Full visual customization and a mobile preview, plus business identity markup (Schema.org, code that tells search engines who you are) for your page. Each widget also gets a plain-text hosted reviews page and llms.txt file that AI tools can read.
Named collections and review filters also work on Free. No credit card is needed to start. The reviews come from your public Google listing, so you do not have to type or copy them by hand.
How to set it up in about ten minutes
- Create a free account. Use the signup button on this page.
- Add your business. Paste the Google Maps link for your business. You do not need to own the listing or sign in to Google.
- Pick a layout and theme. A carousel suits a home page, a grid suits a testimonials page, and a badge is a small way to show your rating in a sidebar or footer. Check the mobile preview before you publish.
- Copy the embed code. The dashboard gives you a script tag. Paste it into your page where the reviews should appear, using a custom HTML or embed block if your site builder has one.
If you use a specific builder, the WordPress guide shows the same steps in detail, and the guides hub lists others.
Is the 20-review limit enough?
For most small sites, yes. Twenty reviews is enough to fill a carousel or a grid. The more important detail is that reviews on the Free plan are refreshed monthly. If you got three new reviews this week, they may not appear on your site until the next monthly refresh. Reviews that are removed from Google can also linger until the next refresh.
You choose which reviews appear. You can hide a review, or set a minimum star rating. That way the 20 you display can be the most useful 20, not just the newest.
What upgrading to the Reviews plan adds
The paid Reviews plan starts at $99 per year and is priced by monthly views: $99 for 100,000, $149 for 250,000, $219 for 500,000, and $329 for 1,000,000. It adds:
- Unlimited widgets, so you can use a different layout on each page.
- Up to 20 businesses on one account (useful for agencies and multi-location firms).
- Automatic review syncing, so new reviews show up without you doing anything.
- Up to 500 reviews per link import, instead of 20.
- Removal of VerifiedWidget branding.
- A domain allowlist, which limits where your widget can load.
- Priority support.
You do not need to decide now. You can start on Free and check that the widget looks right on your site. Upgrade only if you want automatic syncing, branding removed, or more than one widget. See pricing for the full details.
What Free does not do
To keep expectations clear: the Free widget shows reviews that already exist on Google. It does not request reviews from customers, and it does not import reviews from other sites. It will not make Google show star ratings under your website in search results either. Google has a rule that blocks that for a business's own reviews, whether they are shown through a widget or not. The star ratings guide explains this in more detail.
Also keep in mind that Google reviews have to be real. Offering a discount or gift in exchange for a review breaks Google's rules, and buying or writing reviews yourself is not acceptable. If you want more reviews, the review link generator and request template generator help you ask honestly.
