Testimonials and social proof

Testimonial widget using real Google reviews

A testimonial section built from reviews customers already wrote on Google, not from quotes you typed in yourself.

Why real Google reviews make better testimonials

A typed testimonial is a quote with a name next to it. Visitors have seen enough of them to wonder who wrote it. A Google review is different in a few practical ways:

None of this is a guarantee about how your visitors will behave, and VerifiedWidget does not claim a particular lift in sales or sign-ups. It simply gives you a more credible way to show what customers said.

Google reviews only, by design

To be clear about scope: VerifiedWidget imports Google reviews. It does not import reviews from Facebook, Yelp, Trustpilot, or other sites, and it does not send customers a form to collect testimonials. The Review workspace in the dashboard does let you add a testimonial a customer gave you, but only with a recorded note of their permission. It is labeled as a customer testimonial, never as a Google review. If you need a tool that gathers video testimonials or reviews from many sources, a different product may suit you better. If your best proof of work is already on Google, this is the simplest way to put it on your site.

Layouts that work as a testimonial section

The same Google reviews can appear in several forms, depending on the page:

Choosing which reviews to show

You do not have to show everything. VerifiedWidget lets you hide reviews and set a minimum star rating. You can also save named collections, such as one for a specific service, and show a different collection on each page. A plumber could show water heater reviews on the water heater page and drain reviews on the drain page, using the same Google data.

Use these controls for relevance and readability, not to build a misleading picture. The widget shows the real review text and rating from Google. Do not edit what a reviewer wrote, and do not hide a review only because it is honest.

Setup and plans

Paste your Google Maps link, choose a layout, copy the embed code, and paste it into your page. The Free plan covers one widget, 10,000 views a month, and up to 20 reviews refreshed monthly, with branding shown. The Reviews plan, from $99 per year, adds unlimited widgets, automatic syncing, up to 500 reviews per import, and removal of branding. Details are on the free widget page and pricing. To make your reviews easier for AI tools to read, see Google reviews for AI search.

One honest note on search: showing reviews on your site will not make Google display review stars next to your pages. That is blocked for a business's own reviews, with any widget.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this to show testimonials I wrote myself?

No. Never invent quotes. VerifiedWidget shows real Google reviews. You can add a testimonial a real customer gave you only if you record their permission, and it is labeled as a customer testimonial.

Can I show different reviews on different pages?

Yes. Use named collections, hiding, and a minimum star rating. Multiple widgets need the Reviews plan, since Free includes one.

Is a testimonial widget the same as a social proof widget?

They overlap. Both show what customers say. A badge or pop-up layout works well as a short social proof element, and a grid or wall suits a longer testimonial section.

Will the widget slow my site down?

The widget loads from one script tag and loads asynchronously. Check your own pages after adding it, as speed depends on your site too.

Can I hide a negative review?

You can hide any review from your widget, but it will still appear on your Google listing. Be selective in a way you could explain to a customer.

Is it free to try?

Yes. The Free plan includes one widget with all layouts and themes.
