Google reviews widget for salons
New clients pick a stylist as much as a salon. Put reviews on stylist and service pages, right before the booking step.

Clients choose a person, then a time slot
People book a colourist because of a friend's balayage, or a barber because someone mentioned the fade. Reviews that name the stylist and the service answer the real question: will I like the result?
Build a named collection per stylist or service and place it on the matching page. Search your reviews in the dashboard for "colour correction", add the matches to a collection, and show it on that service page. Get your stylists' agreement before featuring reviews that name them.
Place the widget around the booking step
Your Google Business Profile can take bookings too. In the profile's Bookings section you pick a supported scheduling provider, and Google says it shows up on your profile within a week (Google help). You can also add your own booking link. Your site's own booking page still matters. Put a short carousel above the "Book" button, and keep the service menu with prices readable beside it.
Don't put a pop-up review over the booking calendar. If you use the review pop-up layout, set its target pages to your service pages. VerifiedWidget's pop-up never opens on pages whose address contains "checkout", "payment" or "cart". It also waits while someone is typing in a form field. If your booking page has a different address, such as /book, leave it out of the target pages.
Before-and-after photos
Reviewers sometimes attach photos on Google. The photo story layout shows those next to the review, which suits a colour or cut gallery. For your own client photos, get written permission and agree on whether the client's face or name can show.
Example: asking after the appointment
- At checkout the stylist books the next visit, then says "I'll send a link if you'd like to review today".
- The same evening, a text goes out with the Google review link, to every client from that day, not just regulars.
- A week later the manager reads new reviews and replies, tagging the stylist with the feedback.
- Reviews that mention a stylist are added to that stylist's page collection.
Request templates
- After a cut: "Thanks for coming in today. If you'd like to leave an honest Google review, here's the link: [link]."
- After colour: "We hope you're loving the colour. If you want to share how your visit went, here's the link: [link]."
- After a first visit: "Thanks for trying us. If you'd like to tell others about your first visit, here's the link: [link]."
Ask everyone, including a client who asked for a redo. A free deep-conditioning add-on, a sample product, or 10% off the next cut in return for a review all count as rewards. Google's review policy bans them. The FTC's 2024 rule bars rewards that depend on a positive review.
Reply examples
- Positive: "Thank you. We'll tell Maya you enjoyed the cut."
- Negative: "We're sorry the colour wasn't what you hoped for. Please call us to book a complimentary consult so we can look at it together."
- No-show fee complaint: "We're sorry about the confusion over the cancellation policy. Please email [address] and we'll review your booking."
The negative example above offers a consult to fix the work, which is service recovery, not payment for a review. Don't link it to changing or deleting the review.
Set up the widget
Paste your Google Maps link, pick a layout, and add the script tag. The Free plan covers one widget with up to 20 reviews, refreshed monthly. The Reviews plan adds automatic sync. Google's rules block review stars for your own site's reviews (explained).
