For moving companies
Google reviews widget for movers
People trust a mover with everything they own. Put reviews on your quote page, and put your registration details right beside them.
Updated October 2026
Registration details come before reviews
For moves between states, FMCSA requires household goods movers to register with the agency and have a USDOT number. Customers can check a mover's status at protectyourmove.gov or by phone (800-832-5660). FMCSA warns that a company may be registered but not authorized to move household goods, so check both. Moving brokers are different again: FMCSA says they don't own trucks or take charge of your goods. Rules for moves within one state vary by state, so check with your state's consumer protection or transportation agency.
Print your USDOT number, and your state licence number if your state issues one, in the footer or beside the widget. FMCSA's moving tips also advise customers to verify a mover before hiring, so show them how.
What moving reviews should cover
Movers get reviews about arrival time, damage and how the claim was handled, whether the final price matched the quote, and how the crew treated the home. Quote-page visitors want those answers.
Use a grid or service-proof layout near your quote form, and a carousel on city pages. Don't feature a review for a low price. Move costs depend on weight, distance, stairs, and date, and your own estimate page is where those terms belong.
Protect customers' new addresses
Moving reviews often name streets, buildings, or the city a family moved to. Before you add a review to a collection, read it for anything that points to where the customer now lives. Hide those from the widget. You can also show reviewer names as first name and last initial, or first name only. Both settings change only your site. The review stays on Google.
Damage claims in public
A damage complaint is the review that matters most to your next customer. Reply with the actual claims process: how to file, what documentation you need, and how long you respond. A concrete reply persuades better than a generic apology.
Example: the post-move request
- Moving day: the crew completes delivery and the customer signs the inventory. No review request.
- Day 5 to 7, after the customer has unpacked and checked for damage: the office sends the Google review link by email or text, to every customer.
- If the customer reports damage, the claims team contacts them before any review request goes out, and the customer still receives the same link later.
- The quote page shows a grid built from a named collection of long-distance move reviews.
Request templates
- Local move: "Thanks for moving with us. If you'd like to leave an honest Google review of the crew and service, here's the link: [link]."
- Long-distance move: "We hope you're settled in. If you want to share how the move went, here's the link: [link]."
- Packing service: "Thanks for letting us pack. If you'd like to review the packing experience, here's the link: [link]."
Ask all customers, including ones with a claim. Never link a review to how a claim is settled, and never ask a customer to drop a bad review in return for a payout. Google's review policy bans offering anything to get a negative review removed. The FTC's 2024 rule bars rewards that depend on a positive review.
Reply examples
- Positive: "Thank you for noting how carefully the crew wrapped the piano. We'll pass that along."
- Damage claim: "We're sorry about the damaged table. Please email [address] with your move ID and photos, and our claims team will follow up on the next steps."
- Late arrival: "We apologize for the delay on delivery day. Please call [number] so we can review what happened."
Set up the widget
Connect your Google Maps listing, choose a layout, and paste the script into your quote and city pages. The Free plan covers one widget with up to 20 reviews, refreshed monthly. The Reviews plan allows unlimited widgets, so each service area can have its own. Google blocks stars in search for reviews on your own site (explained).
