Make your Google reviews readable by AI search

Many review widgets draw reviews with JavaScript, which some tools never run. VerifiedWidget also publishes plain-text versions that are easier to read. Here is what that does, and what it cannot do.

The honest summary first

Nobody can promise that ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google's AI features, or any other assistant will recommend your business. Those systems decide what to show using their own data and rules, which change often and are not public. What you can control is whether your reviews and business details are available in a form a machine can read. That is all this page is about.

The problem with widgets alone

A standard embeddable widget loads your reviews with a script after the page opens. A person sees them right away. A crawler or AI tool that fetches only the raw page, without running scripts, may see an empty box. The reviews are real, but they are not readable to that tool.

VerifiedWidget adds three plain, text-first things alongside the widget so your reviews have somewhere readable to live.

1. A hosted reviews page

Each widget has a public page at /r/{widgetId}. It is plain, server-rendered HTML with no script needed to read it. It contains:

The page follows the same filters as your widget. If you hid a review or set a minimum star rating, the page respects that. The summary states the official Google rating and the total review count, so the displayed selection is not mistaken for the whole picture. The page also says plainly that it shows selected reviews and points to Google Maps for the full listing.

2. An llms.txt file

Alongside the page there is a plain-text file at /r/{widgetId}/llms.txt. llms.txt is a proposed convention for giving AI tools a clean, text-only summary of a site. Ours lists your business name, the summary, the Google rating, and the review count. It also lists your website and Google Maps links. Then come up to 20 selected reviews, each with the reviewer, rating, date, and source.

Be realistic about it: llms.txt is not an official standard that every AI system follows, and there is no guarantee any particular tool reads it. Think of it as an open door, not a promise that anyone will walk through it.

3. Business identity markup

VerifiedWidget can generate Schema.org JSON-LD (code that tells search engines who you are). It describes who your business is, such as its name, address, phone, website, and Google Maps listing. It leaves out review and star-rating markup on purpose. You add it to your own site so search engines and AI tools can match your website to the right business. Add it to the page head using the install instructions in the dashboard, which include a WordPress snippet. If you only need to create the markup once, the free local business schema generator can do that.

Remember that this markup does not make Google show star ratings under your site in search results. Google does not allow that for a business's own reviews, whatever tool is used. See our guide to star ratings for the full explanation.

When a domain allowlist is set

If you set a domain allowlist on a widget, the widget is meant for your own site only. In that case the hosted page tells search engines not to index it, and the llms.txt file is not published. If you want AI tools to read your reviews, leave the allowlist empty for that widget or use a separate widget for it. The allowlist is a paid-plan feature.

What helps beyond this

The best things for any search, human or AI, are old-fashioned. Keep your Google Business Profile complete. Keep your details the same everywhere online. Earn steady, honest reviews from real customers. Reply in a way that shows you pay attention. Readable pages simply make those things easier to find. Never buy, trade for, or write fake reviews. They break Google's rules. Google can remove them and restrict your profile, for example by blocking new reviews for a time or showing a warning to customers. Rules such as the US FTC fake review rule add legal risk.

Frequently asked questions

Will this get my business recommended by ChatGPT?

No one can promise that. This only makes your reviews and business details easier for AI tools to read. Whether any assistant uses them is up to that assistant.

What is llms.txt?

A plain-text file proposed as a clean summary for AI tools. It is not an official standard, and no tool is guaranteed to read it.

Does the hosted page replace the widget?

No. The widget is for your visitors. The hosted page and llms.txt are plain-text companions that tools can read without running scripts.

Does it show star ratings in Google search?

No. Google does not show review stars for a business's own reviews, with or without a widget or markup.

Why can't I find the hosted page for my widget?

If the widget has a domain allowlist, the page is hidden from search engines and llms.txt is not published for it.

Which plans include this?

Every widget gets a hosted page and an llms.txt file, including the one on the Free plan. Business identity markup is on Free too. The domain allowlist and automatic syncing are on the paid Reviews plan.
