How to add Google reviews to BigCommerce

Show your Google business reviews on a BigCommerce storefront page, using a web page's Source code view or Script Manager.

Updated October 2026

Quick answer

  1. Copy the script tag from your widget's Embed dialog in VerifiedWidget.
  2. For one page: open Storefront → Web Pages and edit the page. Click the editor's Source code button and paste the script where reviews belong.
  3. For every storefront page: Storefront → Script Manager, create a script in the Footer with the location set to Storefront pages.
  4. Save, clear the store cache if needed, and open the live storefront.

What you need

A BigCommerce store you can edit. Script Manager works only on Stencil themes (BigCommerce's current theme system). BigCommerce calls it an advanced feature that needs scripting knowledge. Page Builder's HTML widget may filter scripts, so test it on a draft page first.

Steps for BigCommerce

  1. Build a business-reviews widget

These are Google reviews of your business, not of one product. Choose a badge or carousel for a store page, save the widget and copy its script.

  2. Option 1: one page through Web Pages

Open Storefront → Web Pages and edit the About, Contact or other page. In the content editor, click Source code. BigCommerce's editor guide says this button gives direct access to the page's HTML. Paste the script where reviews should appear, and save. Do not use the editor's formatting tools on the pasted code afterwards; BigCommerce warns they can break it.

  3. Option 2: Script Manager

Open Storefront → Script Manager, create a script, place it in the Footer and set the location to Storefront pages. The widget appears next to the script, so it shows at the bottom of every page you select. Use this only for a site-wide badge.

  4. Option 3: your theme template

If you edit Stencil theme files, place the script in the template of the page where reviews belong. Work on a copy of the theme, never the live one, and ask a developer if you are not comfortable with code.

  5. Check the live storefront

Open it in a private window and clear the store cache or CDN (the network that serves your pages) if you still see the old page.

BigCommerce-specific problems

Where it fits in a store

Good spots are the home page under the hero, the About or Contact page, and a service collection. Product pages already have product review tools; a compact badge there is fine, but a large wall competes with the product itself. Put the reviews that mention delivery, support or service quality in a named collection for this page.

Keeping store pages tidy

A short block on the home page and another on the About or Contact page is usually enough. Do not add the same widget to the header, footer and product pages at once. Every load counts toward your monthly view allowance, and the repetition looks cluttered. If you run more than one business, create one widget per business and keep their names clear in the VerifiedWidget dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

Does BigCommerce allow custom scripts?

Yes, through Script Manager on Stencil themes, which BigCommerce calls an advanced feature, or with the Source code button on a web page. Test whether Page Builder's HTML widget keeps scripts on your store.

Can I show reviews on product pages?

You can place the widget in a product template, but the reviews are about your business, not that product.

Do I need a developer?

Not for the Web Pages route. Theme editing is easier with one.

Why is the widget at the bottom of every page?

Script Manager footer scripts place the widget beside the script. Use a page-level HTML placement if you want a specific position.
