How to Add Google Reviews to Teachable
Teachable has three places for code: the Custom HTML page block, the lesson Custom Code block, and school-wide Code Snippets. Each has its own rules.
Updated October 2026
Quick answer
- For a sales page, go to Site > Pages, open the Product pages tab and edit the page.
- Click Add New Block, choose Custom HTML under Basics, and paste the VerifiedWidget script.
- Preview the page, then click Update to save it.
Teachable does not turn on Custom HTML blocks for new schools. If the block is missing, log in and ask Teachable Support to enable it.
Before you start
Copy the script tag from your widget's Embed dialog in VerifiedWidget. Teachable treats all custom code as unsupported: it does not guarantee that code works now or after future updates. Teachable's articles on pages and blocks, Custom HTML blocks and lesson content are the sources for this guide.
Which Teachable option to use
- Custom HTML page block. Works on school pages (like your home page) and product pages (sales and thank-you pages). This is where reviews help buyers most: near the course outcomes, before the pricing block. You can also reach product pages from Course > your course > Pages.
- Custom Code lesson block. Open the course, then Curriculum, choose a lesson and click Add Content > Custom Code. Teachable supports this on the Basic plan and higher. Lessons are mostly seen by people who have already bought, so use it for a welcome lesson, not for selling.
- Code Snippets. Under Site > Code Snippets, Head Code Snippets load on every page of the school. Teachable offers this on the Builder plan and above (Code Snippets article).
A floating badge for visitors only
Code Snippets cannot place reviews inside a page section. They suit the badge layout, which floats in a corner of the screen. Teachable splits head snippets into Global, Logged In and Logged Out boxes. Put the badge script in Logged Out Snippets and only visitors who are not signed in will see it. Your students, who have already bought, will not.
Teachable says head snippets do not run on single sign-on login or checkout pages (such as sso.teachable.com).
Teachable-specific problems
- No Custom HTML block. It is off by default for new schools. Ask Support to enable it.
- Code shows as text in a lesson. You used the Code Example block, which is read-only. Use Custom Code.
- Easy Embed rejects the script. Easy Embed takes links from services like YouTube, Vimeo and Loom, not script tags.
- Old sales page has no Custom HTML block. Teachable says Sales Page V1 (Page Editor 1.0) is no longer supported. Rebuild the page in Page Editor 2.0.
- Layout changed after adding code. Teachable's first check is to remove code from Code Snippets, save and refresh. If that fixes it, the snippet was the cause.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Custom HTML missing from my page editor?
Teachable does not enable Custom HTML blocks for new schools. Log in and contact Teachable Support to request it.
Which plan do I need?
Teachable lists lesson Custom Code on the Basic plan and higher, and Code Snippets on the Builder plan and above. Its Custom HTML block article names no plan.
Can I use Code Example for the widget?
No. Code Example only shows code as text. Use Custom Code in a lesson or Custom HTML on a page.
Can I hide the reviews from enrolled students?
Yes, with a badge widget in Logged Out Snippets. Only signed-out visitors load it.
Will reviews on my sales page show as stars in Google?
No. Google does not show stars for a business's reviews of itself on its own site. See our star ratings guide.
